Annual flea market on Easter Monday in Briec, Pays Glazik, Finistère
Easter Monday is one of the flagship events in the flea market calendar in France, and Briec is no exception to this tradition. Every year, this first spring public holiday is the occasion for a flea market that brings together local sellers and visitors from Pays Glazik and the Quimper urban area in the town center.
Briec-de-l'Odet is a commune of about 5,000 inhabitants located about ten kilometers north of Quimper, in the Finistère interior. It is the heart of Pays Glazik, a Breton cultural region known for its traditional costumes, festou-noz, and embroidery. The town has several spaces that can host an outdoor flea market, ideally located to take advantage of the return of good weather at the beginning of spring.
Easter Monday is a public holiday universally associated with flea markets and car boot sales in France. This long weekend, often synonymous with the first spring outings, naturally attracts a large crowd to outdoor flea markets. The Briec flea market takes advantage of this momentum to offer a varied selection: furniture, tableware, clothing, toys, books, and various knick-knacks.
Briec stands out for its particularly rich associative life: throughout the months, several car boot sales and flea markets punctuate the local calendar — in March, at Easter, in June, and in autumn. This Easter flea market is therefore part of a well-established event schedule that has earned the town its reputation in the sector.
