Flea market and La Triomphante festival in Mers-sur-Indre, Berrichonne tradition in the heart of the Val de Bouzanne
The Brocante de la Triomphante is an unmissable spring event in Mers-sur-Indre. Every year, on the Sunday after Easter, the village comes alive with an open-air flea market where individuals and bargain hunters exchange trinkets, crockery, books, tools, toys, clothes, and flea market items. The event is inseparable from the La Triomphante festival, a local tradition that celebrates the famous Berrichonne potato cake, prepared according to a secret recipe passed down through generations. A carnival, musical entertainment, and fast food complete this festive day.
Mers-sur-Indre is a rural commune of about 300 inhabitants located in the Val de Bouzanne, between La Châtre and Châteauroux. Crossed by the Indre river, the village offers a typical rural setting of Berry, with its hedged meadows, hiking trails, and rural architectural heritage. The church and the stone houses of the village bear witness to the authenticity of this corner of the Berrichonne countryside. The very active festival committee perpetuates local traditions, of which La Triomphante is the jewel.
The flea market is held on the Sunday after Easter in the village of Mers-sur-Indre. Entry is free. Fast food and drinks available on site. Musical entertainment and carnival throughout the day.
