Professional flea market under the hall of Place Billard
Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, about fifty professional flea market dealers take over the hall of Place Billard, just a stone's throw from Chartres Cathedral. Books, vinyl records, small vintage furniture, toys, jewelry, ceramics, and collectibles are available in a remarkable architectural setting. Free entry, from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Nestled in the heart of Chartres' historic center, a few meters from the Notre-Dame Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Brocante de la Place Billard has established itself as one of the liveliest professional flea markets in Eure-et-Loir. Organized by the Association des Brocanteurs de la Place Billard, founded in January 2014, this event brings together selected professionals each month to offer their finest finds.
The flea market is held twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, offering Chartres shoppers and passing visitors many opportunities to rummage through hundreds of items. The event takes place under and around the halle de la place Billard, a former vegetable market whose Baltard-style architecture gives the event an authentic and picturesque setting. Exhibitors set up as early as 6:00 AM, while visitors are welcomed from 7:30 AM until 6:30 PM.
With around 55 professional dealers present at each event, the Place Billard market stands out for the quality and diversity of its offerings. You can find a mix of small vintage furniture, vinyl records and old recordings, comic books and old books, collectible toys, costume and antique jewelry, ceramics and tableware, antique tools, as well as all sorts of unusual objects and curiosities. Each exhibitor brings their own universe and sensibility, guaranteeing new discoveries with every visit.
Place Billard benefits from a prime geographical location, just a stone's throw from the medieval heart of Chartres. The proximity of the cathedral attracts many tourists who take advantage of their visit to stroll through the market. The historic district, with its cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses, extends the treasure hunt atmosphere typical of any successful flea market. This incomparable setting makes the Brocante de la Place Billard more than just a market: a true journey through time.
Entry is completely free for visitors. The market is accessible on foot from Chartres town center and the SNCF train station (about a 10-minute walk). By car, several parking lots are available in the immediate vicinity, including the cathedral parking lot and the Épars parking lot.
