Annual flea market in the Brie village of Coutevroult, on the edge of the Grand Morin valley
The Coutevroult Flea Market is a spring event well anchored in the calendar of Seine-et-Marne bargain hunters. Held every year in early May in this small village of Brie, it brings together private sellers and amateur dealers in a village festival atmosphere. Visitors find trinkets, antique furniture, crockery, toys, books, and everyday objects in an authentic setting far from commercial fairs.
Nestled in the heart of Brie, a few kilometers from Crécy-la-Chapelle and the Grand Morin valley, Coutevroult is a small rural town in Seine-et-Marne that has preserved its village character. Every spring, the Coutevroult Flea Market attracts bargain hunters and the curious from neighboring towns and throughout eastern Île-de-France for a day devoted to discovery and the pleasure of haggling.
What makes this event charming is its authentically rural character and reasonable size. Far from the large fairs saturated with professional resellers, the Coutevroult flea market relies on conviviality and the diversity of stalls run by residents and enthusiasts. Shoppers can find antique furniture, grandmother's dishware, old tools, books, vinyl records, retro toys, vintage clothing, and small curiosities that tell the everyday story of Brie.
The nearby Grand Morin valley is one of the most picturesque regions of Seine-et-Marne, famous for its water mills, washhouses, medieval bridges, and flowery villages. Crécy-la-Chapelle, nicknamed the "Venice of Brie," or Meaux, historical capital of Brie renowned for its farmhouse brie cheese and Saint-Étienne cathedral, are perfect stops to combine with a visit to the flea market for a true cultural and gourmet escape.
The Coutevroult flea market is also a meeting point for residents of the village and surrounding areas. Children and adults stroll together, kids hunt for toys and old books, adults chat with vendors and negotiate prices. Simple on-site refreshments let visitors enjoy the full day without leaving the aisles.
The Coutevroult Flea Market takes place every year in May. Coutevroult is accessible from Paris via the A4 motorway (Crécy-la-Chapelle exit), or by train from Gare de l'Est to Esbly, then by line P or by car. Free admission for visitors.
