The grand summer flea market of Aouste

Every early August, the village of Aouste (08290), in the southern Ardennes on the border with the Meuse, hosts its large annual flea market. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes d'Aouste, this event takes over the village square and adjacent streets, around the village hall, and brings together between 100 and 200 exhibitors for one of the most important events of its kind in the area.

Aouste is a commune in the arrondissement of Vouziers, located in the South-Ardennes, not far from the borders with the Meuse department and close to the Argonne forests. This quiet village, crossed by the Aire river, offers a green natural setting that contrasts with the liveliness of its large summer flea market. The church of Aouste, a listed historic monument, bears witness to the age and heritage of this Ardennes village.

Between 100 and 200 exhibitors in the square and streets

The Aouste flea market spreads across the village square and adjacent streets, hosting between one hundred and two hundred exhibitors depending on the year. This range reflects the growing success of the event, which attracts exhibitors from across the department and neighboring regions. Individuals and flea market professionals mingle, offering a wide range of items: antique furniture, tableware, collectibles, clothing, books, tools, antiques, and various curiosities.

A cross-border event

The particularity of the Aouste flea market is that it attracts visitors from border regions — Belgium and Luxembourg in particular — drawn by the reputation of this summer event and the diversity of items offered. This international dimension gives the event an extra edge and contributes to its success. Exhibitors must book their spot at a rate of 1.50 euros per linear meter and make their reservation and payment before July 29th.

The Comité des Fêtes d'Aouste organizes this flea market with particular care, ensuring optimal layout of the stands in the square and adjacent streets. The event runs from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM for visitors, with exhibitor setup starting at 6:00 AM. Refreshments, food, and toilets are available on-site for everyone's comfort. Entry is completely free, allowing everyone to enjoy this summer day without financial constraints.
