Cublize, a Haut-Beaujolais village on the shores of Lac des Sapins

Cublize (69550) is a Haut-Beaujolais village in the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône, in the western Rhône department, not far from the Loire border. It is best known for its magnificent Lac des Sapins, an artificial lake surrounded by conifer forest that is a very popular natural leisure area in summer. The village is also close to the Livradois-Forez Regional Natural Park and the wild landscapes of the Haut-Beaujolais. Cublize has been part of the commune of Thizy-les-Bourgs since 2016, but retains its own identity and local life.
