Brocante organised by the age groups born in years ending in 8, in this historic town, the former capital of Beaujolais
The Beaujeu Class Reunion Brocante is a traditional event organised by the age groups born in years ending in 8. This popular French tradition brings together people sharing a birth-year decade for a festive gathering, here combined with a brocante, in this historic town that was once the capital of Beaujolais and the cradle of the illustrious Sires de Beaujeu dynasty.
The Beaujeu Class Reunion Brocante perpetuates the French tradition of age-group gatherings, where people born in the same year come together periodically to celebrate shared milestones. In Beaujeu, this tradition takes the form of a festive brocante organised by those born in years ending in 8. The event brings together dealers, private sellers and families around stalls offering antique furniture, collectibles, clothing, books, trinkets and curiosities of all kinds. In the picturesque setting of this northern Beaujolais town, the brocante is an opportunity to rediscover the streets and squares of the former Beaujolais capital, animated by the infectious good cheer of the reunited classes.
Beaujeu (69430) is a historic town in the northern Rhône department, set in the Ardières valley at the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards. It was the former capital of Beaujolais and the seat of the powerful Sires de Beaujeu dynasty, one of the most influential noble families in medieval France, from which Anne de Beaujeu, regent of France in the 15th century, was descended. This prestigious past has left its mark on the town's heritage: its Saint-Nicolas church, its Marius-Audin municipal museum, its private mansions and medieval lanes all bear witness to a long and glorious history. Beaujeu is today the chief town of the canton and a lively centre of the Haut-Beaujolais wine region.
