The big monthly flea market on Place Saint-Éloi and Kennedy in the heart of Angers
Every first Sunday of the month, the Brocante du Centre-Ville d'Angers takes over Place Saint-Éloi and Kennedy as well as adjacent streets. This large monthly market brings together about a hundred exhibitors - professionals and individuals - for an exceptional day of treasure hunting in the heart of the city of art and history of Angers, a stone's throw from the castle and the cathedral.
The Brocante du Centre-Ville d'Angers is one of the most popular events in the Angers treasure hunters' calendar. Every first Sunday of the month, Place Saint-Éloi and Kennedy, as well as several adjacent streets, are transformed into a vast flea market where antique dealers, professional second-hand dealers, and individuals wishing to give their items a second life mingle.
This large gathering hosts nearly a hundred exhibitors, offering an incredible diversity of items: furniture and furnishings from all eras, tableware and table arts, books and old documents, vintage clothing and accessories, records, toys, trinkets, paintings, and prints. The size of the event guarantees that every visitor, whether a seasoned collector or a curious onlooker, will leave with a find.
The location of the flea market is particularly central and well-served. Place Kennedy and Place Saint-Éloi form a lively urban area in the historic center of Angers, in immediate proximity to the Château des Ducs d'Anjou and the main shopping streets of the city. The market also extends to the parking lot of the Toussaint media library and the surrounding streets, offering ample space for exhibitors and visitors.
The City of Angers supports this event, which is part of the dynamic of enhancing the commercial and cultural heritage of the historic center. The regular animation of these public spaces contributes to the life of the neighborhood and the tourist attractiveness of the Angers metropolitan area.
Angers, prefecture of Maine-et-Loire, has a particularly rich flea market and antique scene, with several monthly markets, numerous antique shops, and a long tradition of second-hand trade. The city, labeled a City of Art and History, boasts among its treasures the famous Tapestry of the Apocalypse (14th century) in the castle, the Museum of Fine Arts, the David d'Angers gallery, and the Jardin des Plantes. A trip combining culture and treasure hunting is particularly rewarding here.
