Summer flea market enlivened by the Union Musicale de Jougne, with concerts and catering
Every August, the Union Musicale de Jougne organizes its flea market and car boot sale with music, one of the oldest in the Haut-Doubs. About fifty exhibitors share the grounds of the Salle Roland Tempesta, place du Champ aux Dames. Musical entertainment, pea soup, snails, and crepes make this event a festive and unmissable gathering in the Jura mountains.
Every year in August, the town of Jougne, in the heart of the Jura mountains on the Franco-Swiss border, comes alive to the sound of its summer flea market. Organized by the Union Musicale de Jougne, this event is one of the oldest and most popular in the Haut-Doubs. It brings together about fifty exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, on the grounds adjacent to the Salle Roland Tempesta, place du Champ aux Dames.
What sets this flea market apart from other events in the region is its unique musical atmosphere. Throughout the day, musical entertainment provided by members of the Union Musicale delights strollers and bargain hunters, creating a festive and warm ambiance that transforms this simple car boot sale into a true popular festival.
The Salle Roland Tempesta, located at Place du Champ aux Dames in Jougne (25370), is the nerve center of this summer event. Exhibitors set up from early morning, starting at 7 am, to welcome the first visitors. The day continues until 5 pm, leaving the entire morning and a good part of the afternoon to browse the stalls and find treasures.
The Brocante en Musique de Jougne also offers catering inspired by Franche-Comté cuisine, which contributes to its popular success. Pea soup, Burgundy snails, crepes, and meal platters are offered throughout the day by volunteers from the Union Musicale. These regional specialties allow visitors to eat on-site in a friendly atmosphere, making this day a true gastronomic festival as well as a flea market.
Jougne is an exceptional town, perched at over 1,000 meters altitude in the Jura Massif, a stone's throw from the Swiss border and the Col de la Ferrière. Its Romanesque church, its landscapes of meadows and fir forests, and its family ski resort make it a popular year-round destination. The August flea market is the perfect opportunity to discover this typically Franche-Comté village in all its summer splendor.
Spaces are available at 3 euros per linear meter, by reservation via email or by phone at 06 62 63 15 59. Given the event's popularity, it is advisable to book quickly to ensure you get a spot.
