Every first of May, the village of Auzon, a rural commune in the Allier valley in Haute-Loire, celebrates its traditional car boot sale and flea market. The Place du Commerce, closed to traffic for the occasion, transforms into a lively second-hand market that attracts villagers and residents from surrounding communes.

A festive and friendly event

The formula chosen by the organizers is very accessible: €1.50 per linear meter, with no mandatory reservation. Exhibitors – individuals wanting to clear out their attics and amateur flea market sellers – set up early in the morning to make the most of the day. The road is completely closed, offering a dedicated and safe space for stalls and visitors.

Entertainment for the whole family

To make this day a truly festive event, the organizers offer street entertainment that punctuates the day. Jugglers, musicians, or other street artists may be present depending on the year. Refreshments are also available on-site, allowing visitors to quench their thirst between finds. The atmosphere is that of a warm village festival, in the spirit of Labour Day as celebrated in the rural communes of Haute-Loire.
