The Lo Clapas association—whose name evokes in Occitan a pile of stones, a metaphor for the heterogeneous jumbles of a car boot sale—founded this event in the early 1990s. Its reputation extends far beyond the borders of the Gard, and many professional antique dealers travel there alongside individuals.
