The annual flea market of the Sours firefighters

Every year in September, the Place de l'Église in Sours (Eure-et-Loir) transforms into a large second-hand market for the Bric-à-brac des sapeurs-pompiers. Organized by the Amicale des sapeurs-pompiers de Sours, this friendly event has brought together the inhabitants of the town and its surroundings for many years for a day of treasure hunting and good deals.

The event takes place from 7 am to 6 pm and hosts about 150 private exhibitors. Individuals and second-hand object enthusiasts meet to sell and buy in a warm atmosphere, typical of village flea markets. Entry is free for visitors, and the funds collected contribute to the operation of the local firefighters' association, which plays an essential role in the community life of the town.

Sours, on the outskirts of Chartres

Sours is a commune in Eure-et-Loir located about ten kilometers south-east of Chartres, in the Beauce plain. Attached to the Chartres Métropole urban community, it offers an authentic rural setting while being easily accessible from the department's prefecture. The Place de l'Église, the historic heart of the village, is an ideal setting for this annual event.

The associative fabric of Sours is particularly active. The firefighters' association is one of its most emblematic actors, organizing this popular flea market as well as various events throughout the year in support of local firefighters.
