Village bargain hunting in the Somme
Small in size but big in spirit, the Brévillers Réderie perfectly illustrates these village events that make up the soul of the Somme. With about thirty exhibitors, it is far from the great spectacular réderies of Amiens or Abbeville, but offers what large events cannot always: intimate, warm atmosphere and unhurried negotiation time.
In Hauts-de-France and the Somme, the "réderie" is more than a local equivalent of a flea market: it's an anchored cultural practice. The word comes from Picard and means "to wander". The Picard bargain hunter is a patient stroller.
Setting the réderie on the village square is a natural and traditional choice. The atmosphere is that of a small village fair: greetings, chats, running children, elders sharing memories.
The thirty exhibitors mainly offer individual-to-individual objects: children's and adult clothing, shoes, toys, books, board games, everyday crockery, small appliances, knick-knacks, decor, tools, garden equipment.
Brévillers is a small rural commune. Its peaceful character and country setting make it pleasant for a day of quiet bargain hunting, far from touristy routes.
Brévillers is accessible by local roads. Village street parking.
