Solidarity street sale in Baume-les-Dames, sale of clothes and items for charitable causes
Each year around May 1st, Baume-les-Dames hosts its Solidarity Street Sale, an unmissable charitable event in the Doubs baumois region. Organized over several days, this sale offers clothes, books, accessories, and everyday items collected from the inhabitants of the town and surrounding areas, all at very low prices.
The profits from the sale are entirely donated to charitable associations and local solidarity projects. By purchasing at this event, visitors kill two birds with one stone: they get great deals on quality items while directly contributing to social and humanitarian causes. The solidarity sale is fully in line with the circular economy dynamic, promoting reuse rather than waste.
Baume-les-Dames is a lively town of some 5,500 inhabitants, crossed by the Doubs river and dominated by its abbey founded in the 7th century. The Abbey of Baume-les-Dames, whose square provides an exceptional historical and architectural setting, regularly hosts cultural and associative events. The solidarity sale, which sometimes takes place at the Abbey or in a hall, benefits from this remarkable heritage for its reach.
The solidarity sale generally takes place over three days around the May 1st weekend, with sales hours in the morning and afternoon. Items are sorted, labeled, and carefully presented to facilitate purchases. A team of volunteers welcomes visitors and manages the stalls throughout the event.
