Grand neighbourhood street sale in the Croix-Rousse district during the neighbourhood festival
On Saturday 13 June 2026, the Croix-Rousse plateau comes alive for its annual grande braderie, held as part of the Croix-Rousse en Fête neighbourhood festival. In the streets of the plateau and on the Canuts slopes, traders and private sellers set up stalls offering clothing, trinkets, books, vintage objects and finds of all kinds. The popular and bohemian spirit of the neighbourhood is very much present.
On Saturday 13 June 2026, the streets of the Croix-Rousse plateau in Lyon's 4th arrondissement become the stage for the annual grande braderie organised during Croix-Rousse en Fête. Neighbourhood shopkeepers and private sellers from all over Lyon take to the cobblestones to offer their treasures: second-hand clothing, decorative objects, books, vinyl records, trinkets and curiosities. In a neighbourhood where bargain-hunting dates back to the time of the canuts, the braderie is a celebration within a celebration.
La Croix-Rousse is one of Lyon's most singular and beloved neighbourhoods. Its plateau, perched on the hill overlooking the Presqu'île, was long the stronghold of the canuts, the silk weavers who shaped the city's economic and social history. Their legacy is still visible in the immense facades with large windows designed to let light into the weaving workshops, and in the traboules that wind between the buildings. Today the neighbourhood has retained its popular, bohemian and alternative character, welcoming artists, craftspeople, activists and families in a unique village-within-the-city atmosphere. The Croix-Rousse en Fête neighbourhood festival perfectly embodies this spirit of conviviality and freedom.
