Flea market and craft market during the Blueberry Festival at Col du Béal
Every August 15th, Col du Béal, the highest point on the road between the Loire and Puy-de-Dôme, hosts the Blueberry Festival organized by the Collectif Myrtille Sauvage du Forez. This event celebrates the traditional harvesting of wild blueberries in the high pastures of the Forez mountains, at an altitude of 1,390 meters.
The market of local producers and artisans is set up from 10 am to 6 pm on the vast meadows of the pass. You can find local Forez products: blueberry jams, honeys, cheeses, cured meats, as well as local crafts and flea market stalls. Visitors can enjoy blueberry tarts and other local specialties.
The day is punctuated by performances by folk groups, workshops for children, and guided botanical walks to discover the flora of the high pastures. The magnificent setting of the Forez mountains, with its 360-degree panoramas over the Forez plain and the volcanoes of Auvergne, offers an exceptional backdrop.
