Summer car boot sale on the village square of Ruynes-en-Margeride, in the land of Margeride
Every summer, the village square of Ruynes-en-Margeride (15320) hosts a popular car boot sale organized by the APE (Parents' Association). The unique feature of this car boot sale is the absence of prior registration: exhibitors arrive from 6 am and set up freely, with payment on site. The event runs from 8 am to 6 pm and brings together about a hundred private exhibitors.
Ruynes-en-Margeride is a commune in the northeast of Cantal, located on the foothills of Margeride, a granite massif that extends between Cantal, Lozère, and Haute-Loire. The village is famous for its Écomusée de la Margeride, which retraces the rural life and traditions of this austere and endearing territory. A few kilometers away, the Garabit viaduct, a masterpiece by Gustave Eiffel, spans the Truyère river in a grandiose landscape.
The car boot sale of Ruynes-en-Margeride benefits from an exceptional natural setting, between the granite plateaus of Margeride and the gorges of the Truyère. Visitors often combine treasure hunting with a visit to the Écomusée or the Garabit viaduct. Its location on the Saint-Flour - Marvejols axis ensures that the car boot sale attracts visitors from beyond the Cantal department.
The Parents' Association of Ruynes-en-Margeride organizes this car boot sale in a spirit of simplicity and conviviality. The no-registration system, with free setup and on-site payment, facilitates exhibitor participation and gives the event a spontaneous and popular character that appeals to bargain hunters from the northeast of Cantal and Margeride.
