Professional antiques and flea market fair at Salle le Triskel
Pont-l'Abbé, the capital of Pays Bigouden, is a town with a strong cultural identity, marked by its Breton traditions and its architectural heritage around the castle of the Barons of Pont. It is in this rich context that the Belle Brocante Antiquités has established itself as one of the flagship flea market events in southern Finistère. Every spring, the Salle le Triskel, the town's multi-purpose hall, transforms for two days into a space dedicated to old objects and treasures from the past.
The event brings together around thirty carefully selected professional exhibitors, from all over Brittany and sometimes beyond. The quality of the selection distinguishes this fair from simple car boot sales: each exhibitor offers authentic, dated, and appraised items. You can find both antique Breton furniture – wardrobes, 'lits clos' (closed beds), sideboards – and more delicate objects such as Quimper earthenware, silver jewelry, paintings by regional masters, or even traditional Bigouden lace and headdresses.
The fair is usually held over a weekend in April, on Saturday and Sunday, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Admission is charged (around €2.50), contributing to the organization and quality of the event. The Salle le Triskel, well-equipped and easily accessible, offers a comfortable setting for browsing at your leisure, even in bad weather, which is not insignificant in Brittany in the spring.
The atmosphere of the fair is that of fine provincial flea markets: the exhibitors, passionate and knowledgeable, are available to tell the story of the items they offer, give advice, and negotiate reasonably. Regular visitors come with family or friends, some having traveled from Quimper, Brest, or even further afield, attracted by the growing reputation of this Bigouden fair.
The Belle Brocante Antiquités is part of the cultural tradition of Pays Bigouden, a region that holds onto its roots and heritage. The flea market, by preserving and circulating objects from the past, participates in this collective memory. The pieces of Breton craftsmanship, painted furniture, regional earthenware, or maritime objects that pass through this fair tell the story of Bigouden families and the fishing communities of this Atlantic coast.
For collectors specializing in Breton popular arts and traditions, this fair is a rare opportunity to find authentic pieces in their region of origin, without having to travel across France to attend the major Parisian fairs. An undeniable asset for lovers of Breton flea markets.
