The Ascension flea market, an Alsatian tradition

The Houssen Ascension Flea Market is one of the most eagerly awaited popular events in the Colmar region. Every year on the Ascension bank holiday, the streets of Houssen village are transformed into a vast open-air market. For its 29th edition, the event takes place on Friday 1 May 2026, from 6am to 6pm.

With around 150 private sellers, the market occupies several village streets and offers an impressive range of second-hand goods: clothes for all ages, crockery and ornaments, books and records, toys, tools, furniture and collectibles.

Houssen, an Alsace plain village near Colmar

With around 2,500 inhabitants, Houssen is a typical Alsatian village located just 5 km north of Colmar, easily accessible from Colmar, Sélestat, Mulhouse and Strasbourg.

FC Ostheim Houssen, the organizer

For nearly thirty years, FC Ostheim Houssen has organized this major flea market, mobilizing its volunteers to welcome exhibitors, manage the streets and animate the day. Proceeds go towards the club's sporting activities. Refreshments are available throughout the day.
