Every March, the seafront of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne transforms into a vast open-air flea market. The Annual Flea Market, organized by the Nouvel Élan des Commerçants de Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, attracts between 100 and 200 exhibitors along the boulevard de la Côte de Beauté, offering treasure hunters an exceptional setting facing the Atlantic and the Gironde estuary.
The boulevard de la Côte de Beauté, at number 136, runs along the main beach of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne. The flea market stalls stretch out facing the sea, with the cliffs of the corniche de Suzac, a protected natural site, in the background. This coastal promenade offers a panorama of the Gironde estuary, the Cordouan lighthouse in the distance, and the Pointe de la Coubre. The maritime setting gives this flea market a unique charm among events in the Charente region.
Neighboring Royan, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne is a popular seaside resort on the Côte de Beauté, between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic Ocean. Its fine sandy beaches, coastal paths, and the Pointe de Suzac make it a sought-after holiday destination. The town is home to the Gallo-Roman site museum of Fâ in Barzan, a few kilometers away, and benefits from generous sunshine conducive to outdoor flea markets from spring onwards.
The March flea market marks the start of the flea market season on the Côte de Beauté. Exhibitors offer an eclectic assortment: antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, books, vinyl records, vintage clothing, and collector's items. Entry is free for visitors. A refreshment stand and a catering area allow visitors to eat on site, facing the sea.
