ABLD Car boot sale, Halle de Béré, Rue Brient 1er, Châteaubriant — 11th edition
The Halle de Béré, Rue Brient 1er, in the Béré district of Châteaubriant, is the venue each year in April for the car boot sale organized by ABLD (Association Baskets Loisirs Dames). With its 11th edition, this event has established itself as a popular meeting place for the residents of Châteaubriant and the surrounding towns of the Mée region.
The Association Baskets Loisirs Dames of Châteaubriant brings together women passionate about basketball for friendly and fulfilling sports activities. Beyond training sessions and matches, the club maintains a rich associative life, with the annual car boot sale being one of the highlights. This event allows the association to finance its sports equipment, licenses, and travel, while strengthening the bonds between its members and the Châteaubriant community.
The Béré district is one of the historic areas of Châteaubriant, with the Halle serving as a central public facility. This covered hall, ideally sized to host a market or a flea market, offers exhibitors and visitors protection from the elements while maintaining the open and lively atmosphere of a traditional market. Its location on Rue Brient 1er, in a lively residential area, makes it easily accessible on foot for local residents.
The ABLD car boot sale is distinguished by its exceptionally low registration fee: only €4 for a 1.20-meter table. This deliberate choice of financial accessibility largely explains the event's lasting success and the loyalty of the 80 exhibitors who return year after year. A family with a few items to sell can expect to recoup their registration fee from the first few transactions, which encourages participation and guarantees a varied offering for visitors.
Châteaubriant is the sub-prefecture of the district of the same name, in the northeast of Loire-Atlantique. Dominated by its remarkably preserved medieval and Renaissance castle, the town boasts a rich historical heritage that has earned it the label "Ville d'Art et d'Histoire" (City of Art and History). The Béré district, developed in the 20th century, complements the urban fabric of this town of some 12,000 inhabitants, which plays a central role in the economic and cultural life of its district.
