Moncrabeau, World Capital of Liars

Moncrabeau (47600) is a village of 828 inhabitants in the south of Lot-et-Garonne, whose fame extends far beyond the department's borders. Since 1748, it has been known as the World Capital of Liars, and the Academy of Liars in purple and white costumes perpetuates this tradition by electing a King of Liars every first Sunday in August. This honorary title rewards the best storyteller of "lies" during a grand festival.
