The Alouette association is organizing the 16th edition of the Mettray Car Boot Sale, which brings together 200 exhibitors in the center of this village north of Tours. From 8 am to 6 pm, the stalls offer clothing, toys, books, crockery, trinkets, small furniture, decoration, and various objects in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. Refreshments, light meals, and face painting for children complete this convivial day.
Mettray is a village in the Choisille Valley, north of Tours. It is known worldwide for its agricultural and penal colony founded in 1839, a pioneer in education through work and a model for many institutions around the world. The site, currently undergoing heritage development, gives the village a unique historical dimension. The Choisille, a small river lined with willows and poplars, flows through the village and offers bucolic walks typical of the Touraine countryside.
