16th edition of the Mettray car boot sale, 200 exhibitors in the heart of the village
The Alouette association is organizing the 16th edition of the Mettray Car Boot Sale, which brings together 200 exhibitors in the center of this village north of Tours. From 8 am to 6 pm, the stalls offer clothing, toys, books, crockery, trinkets, small furniture, decoration, and various objects in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. Refreshments, light meals, and face painting for children complete this convivial day.
Mettray is a village in the Choisille Valley, north of Tours. It is known worldwide for its agricultural and penal colony founded in 1839, a pioneer in education through work and a model for many institutions around the world. The site, currently undergoing heritage development, gives the village a unique historical dimension. The Choisille, a small river lined with willows and poplars, flows through the village and offers bucolic walks typical of the Touraine countryside.
The Mettray car boot sale is more than just a second-hand market: it's a true village festival where neighbors, families, and bargain hunters gather. Admission is free and parking is easy. Its proximity to Tours (10 km) allows you to combine the visit with an excursion to the city.
