The big 14th of July street sale-flea market at the foot of the Ambierle priory
Ambierle, a small village in the Roannais region famous for its 15th-century Cluniac priory and its Alice Taverne museum dedicated to popular arts and traditions, hosts one of the largest street sales-flea markets in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region every July 14th. This event, organized for over 35 years, has built a loyal following of treasure hunters and strollers.
The street sale takes over the village streets and the Place du Château Gaillard from 4 a.m. for the early birds. You can find everything: antiques, old furniture, crockery, trinkets, vintage clothing, vinyl records, period toys, and collectibles. Exhibitors, both professional and private, offer their finds until the end of the day.
The setting of the village of Ambierle, with its half-timbered houses and its flamboyant Gothic priory, adds undeniable charm to this day of treasure hunting. Visitors can extend their visit by discovering the Flemish altarpiece in the church or the Alice Taverne museum. The refreshment stand and on-site catering allow for a full day out.
