National Day Flea Market — Saint-Denis-Catus, July 14th
Every year for the July 14th national holiday, Saint-Denis-Catus, a small village in the Lot located about fifteen kilometers northwest of Cahors, hosts its traditional flea market. This popular event is an opportunity to bring together villagers and passing visitors in a festive and friendly atmosphere, right in the heart of the village.
Saint-Denis-Catus is a village of character set in a landscape of hills and valleys typical of Quercy blanc, on the borders of Bouriane. Crossed by the river Vert, the village is surrounded by woods and agricultural land. Its Romanesque church and its old blonde stone buildings give the event an authentic and picturesque setting that appeals to lovers of flea markets and the Quercy countryside.
The July 14th flea market is an event open to all, where individuals and occasional dealers display their second-hand items, clothing, trinkets, old tools, and various curiosities. The diversity of stalls delights bargain hunters of all levels, whether they are seasoned collectors or simply curious individuals looking for a good deal or an original souvenir. Admission is free for visitors.
Organized on the national holiday, this flea market is part of a broader program of festivities celebrating July 14th in Saint-Denis-Catus. The day is enlivened by the conviviality that characterizes the villages of the Lot during local festivals: on-site catering, a refreshment stand, and the spirit of the national holiday that unites the inhabitants around this anticipated annual event.
Saint-Denis-Catus is accessible from Cahors via the D653 towards Catus, then via departmental roads. The village has parking facilities that facilitate visitor access. The event is generally held during the day, from morning until mid-afternoon, in the village center.
