Traditional Bread Festival and car boot sale on the village square of Chassagne, in the Combrailles
Chassagne, a small village in the Combrailles, perpetuates the tradition of baking bread in a wood-fired oven every summer during its Bread Festival. This event, now in its 11th edition, has become a must-attend summer gathering in the area, blending culinary heritage and a popular car boot sale.
The village square hosts the car boot sale exhibitors while the traditional bread oven is relit for the occasion. Visitors can browse the stalls while enjoying freshly baked bread, in an authentic rural atmosphere characteristic of Auvergne village festivals.
The 11th Chassagne Bread Festival and Flea Market will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 in the hamlet of Pouchenirgue, on the village square (63320, Puy-de-Dôme). This friendly event combines a flea market with about fifty exhibitors with the traditional bread festival, featuring bread and brioche baked in the village's communal oven.
On the program: bargain hunting and second-hand items, exhibition and sale of local and artisanal products, on-site catering. Free entry for visitors.
