Every September, Viry-Châtillon Town Hall organises its grand municipal flea market in the town centre. Between 150 and 200 private sellers gather for this back-to-school event in this Seine-side commune, known for its Route Nationale 7 bridge and proximity to Paris-Orly airport. Free entry.
Viry-Châtillon, an industrial and residential commune on the Seine
Viry-Châtillon is an Essonne commune of around 31,000 inhabitants, on the southern inner rim of Greater Paris, along the Seine. Part of Grand Paris Sud, it is traversed by the legendary Nationale 7 road and its iconic bridge over the Seine. The commune's history is intertwined with river trade and industry, and today it blends residential neighbourhoods, business zones and a diverse, cosmopolitan population.
