Villemomble's grand annual flea market along Avenue Gallieni
Each spring, Avenue du Général Gallieni in Villemomble becomes a huge open-air popular market. The Foire aux Greniers (Attic Sale), organised by the Town Hall, is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the town: nearly 400 private sellers line this central thoroughfare to offer clothing for adults and children, toys, books, paintings, crockery, trinkets and all sorts of bric-à-brac.
Avenue Gallieni, a lively artery in Villemomble (93250), provides an ideal setting: wide, well served by public transport, it allows bargain hunters from the Seine-Saint-Denis department and across Île-de-France to stroll freely between stalls. Entry is completely free for visitors, and the family-friendly, convivial atmosphere makes it a popular outing for both locals and second-hand enthusiasts from neighbouring towns.
To make the most of the market, arrive early in the morning when the best finds are still available. Bring cash, as transactions between private sellers are generally made in cash. Public transport (tram T4, buses) provides easy access to Avenue Gallieni from Paris and nearby Seine-Saint-Denis towns.
