Car boot sale and flea market in the village of Valuéjols, in the heart of the Planèze du Cantal
Every spring, the village of Valuéjols (15300) comes alive for its annual car boot sale, organized by the Association des Parents d'Élèves (APE). The event unfolds around the covered market and in the village squares, near the town hall. Exhibitors, mainly individuals and a few antique dealers, offer a wide range of second-hand items: trinkets, clothing, toys, tableware, books, and decorative objects.
Valuéjols is a commune in the Planèze de Saint-Flour, a vast volcanic plateau located between Murat and Saint-Flour. This high-altitude area, swept by the winds, is characterized by its summer pastures and stone villages. Valuéjols retains an authentic rural heritage with its church, traditional farms, and covered market, which regularly hosts local events.
The Valuéjols car boot sale goes beyond a simple commercial event: it is a time for meeting and conviviality for the inhabitants of the commune and surrounding areas. On-site catering, offered at lunchtime by APE volunteers (pâté, saucisse-aligot, and dessert), and the refreshment stand open all day make this event a popular family gathering. The proceeds help finance the school trips and activities of the Valuéjols school children.
Outdoor pitches are free. Indoor spaces (covered market) are available by registration, with a table rental fee of €2 per table. The registration fee is €5 per exhibitor, whether indoors or outdoors. Indoor placement is determined upon booking.
