Every May 1st, the Place de la République in Saint-Martin-de-Ré hosts its large spring car boot sale. This vast space, located in the heart of the city fortified by Vauban and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers an incomparable setting for a day of treasure hunting. Saint-Martin-de-Ré is the historic capital of the Île de Ré. Its fortifications, built by Vauban at the end of the 17th century, enclose a maze of cobbled streets lined with white houses with green shutters. The port, animated by pleasure boats and restaurant terraces, forms the beating heart of this characteristic town. The Place de la République, which hosts the flea market, is located at the entrance of the village, offering a clear space ideal for the event.

The choice of May 1st is not insignificant: this public holiday traditionally marks the start of the flea market season throughout France. The flea market is held on May 1st from 8 am to 6 pm on the Place de la République. Entry is free. Exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, have a maximum of 8 linear meters.
