The Twinning Car Boot Sale: Treasure Hunting at the Foot of the Medieval Tower

Every August 15th, the Yvignac-Ivenack Twinning Committee organizes its annual car boot sale on the Place des Terres Neuves, in the heart of Yvignac-la-Tour village. This event is part of the August 15th festivities and helps fund the twinning committee's activities, which maintain friendly ties with the German town of Ivenack.

About Sixty Exhibitors

Approximately 60 exhibitors set up their stalls in the square, offering clothes, toys, tableware, trinkets, books, and various other items. The modest size of the event gives it a family-friendly and warm atmosphere, conducive to exchanges between sellers and bargain hunters. The setting is remarkable, with the medieval tower of Yvignac overlooking the square and giving the town its unique character.

The Candy Toss from the Top of the Tower

The highlight of the car boot sale is the traditional candy toss from the top of the tower at noon. Children gather at the foot of the medieval building to catch the sweets thrown from the summit, in a joyful and festive atmosphere. This original ritual has made the event famous well beyond the town and attracts families from the surrounding area.

Yvignac-la-Tour, Remarkable Heritage

Yvignac-la-Tour is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor region, located between Dinan and Broons, known for its 11th-century medieval tower, a remnant of an old seigneurial castle.
