Every summer, the hamlet of Dégagnazès, in the municipality of Peyrilles (46310) in Quercy Blanc, comes alive to the rhythm of its big annual car boot sale. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes du Dégagnazès, this event brings together around a hundred private exhibitors offering their second-hand items, curios, and finds of all kinds. It is one of the unmissable events of the festive life in this rural area of the Lot, on the border between Quercy Blanc and Périgord Noir.
The Comité des Fêtes du Dégagnazès is the soul of the associative life of this peaceful hamlet. Every year, its mobilized volunteers carefully prepare this event which attracts residents from neighboring towns and tourists passing through Quercy Blanc. The tradition of votive festivals and car boot sales is deeply rooted in local culture, and Dégagnazès proudly perpetuates this living heritage.
Around 100 private exhibitors set up along the alleys and on the hamlet's square to offer their hidden treasures: clothes, toys, books, vinyl records, crockery, old tools, small furniture, and various trinkets. The stall rental fees are particularly attractive, at only €2 per linear meter (duck bone included at €20), which encourages participation from local sellers and those from further afield. The musical entertainment, including flamenco demonstrations, gives this day a special and festive flavor that goes beyond the scope of an ordinary car boot sale.
