Grand car boot sale on August 15th along the Nantes to Brest canal, organized by Élan Montertelotais
Each year on August 15th, the Élan Montertelotais association organizes its grand car boot sale for the country fair. Over 228 pitches are offered in the village streets and along the Nantes to Brest canal. The event, from 8 am to 6 pm, attracts between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors, making this small village one of the most important flea market events in Morbihan in August.
Montertelot is one of the smallest municipalities in Morbihan with only 370 inhabitants, spread between the main village and two hamlets. The village is crossed by the Nantes to Brest canal, whose lock n°29 is a point of heritage interest. The towpath, frequented by hikers, cyclists, and boaters, gives the town a green tourist appeal throughout the year.
The car boot sale is part of the Élan Montertelotais country fair, which also includes fireworks launched from the canal banks on Friday evening, entertainment, food, and a dance. The 250 exhibitor spots are usually all booked well in advance, testifying to the event's success.
