Every May 8th, the citadel of Mont-Dauphin, a masterpiece by Vauban classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, hosts a car boot sale in a unique historical and landscape setting. Perched on a rocky promontory at an altitude of 1,050 meters, at the confluence of the Durance and the Guil, the Mont-Dauphin citadel was built by Vauban after the invasion by the Duke of Savoy in 1692. The fortress, never completed, retains its imposing ramparts, barracks, church, powder magazine, and guardhouses. Since 2008, it has been part of the Vauban fortifications network inscribed on the World Heritage list.
