The big car boot sale on May 1st organized by ACLB XV, the village rugby club
Every May 1st, the Athletic Club Labastide Beauvoir (ACLB XV) organizes its big car boot sale in the village. Approximately 130 exhibitors—mainly individuals—offer furniture, clothing, toys, tableware, books, and various items from 8 am to 7 pm. This public holiday event attracts bargain hunters from the Toulouse agglomeration and the Lauragais region, who take advantage of this day off to stroll among the stalls.
Labastide-Beauvoir is a commune of about 1,200 inhabitants located in the Lauragais, this hilly countryside between Toulouse and Castelnaudary often nicknamed the "pays de cocagne" (land of plenty). The village, whose name evokes an old medieval fortified town, is situated on the Lauragais hillsides 25 km southeast of Toulouse. The commune retains its rural character with its sunflower fields, pink brick farms, and parish church.
All profits from the car boot sale are donated to ACLB XV, the local rugby club, to fund its sports activities: equipment, team travel, rugby school, and training for young players. Rugby union (Rugby à XV) is a strong tradition in southwestern France, and the support of the local community through this type of event is essential to the club's life.
The car boot sale takes place outdoors in a rural setting. A refreshment stand and a catering area are usually available. Entry is free for visitors. The village is accessible from Toulouse via the D2 road through Castanet-Tolosan and Labège.
