Annual grand car boot sale on the first Tuesday of August in the medieval town of Treignac in Corrèze
Every first Tuesday of August, the historic center of Treignac transforms into a vast bargain hunting market. About a hundred exhibitors take over the streets and squares of this medieval town to offer visitors a varied range of second-hand items: furniture, trinkets, books, clothes, toys, and curiosities of all kinds. This summer event attracts bargain hunters from all over northern Corrèze and the Millevaches plateau.
Treignac is one of the most picturesque villages in Corrèze. Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Vézère gorges, the town retains an exceptional medieval heritage: turreted houses from the 15th and 16th centuries, an old stone bridge, the Notre-Dame-des-Bans church, the Chapelle des Pénitents, and steep alleys lined with old houses. The Vézère site, classified Natura 2000, offers an exceptional natural setting for outdoor activities, from canoeing to hiking.
The Treignac car boot sale is recognized as one of the unmissable events for bargain hunters in Corrèze. Mandatory registration with the Tourist Office ensures careful organization and a good balance of the number of exhibitors. The modest fee of €4 for 3 linear meters attracts both regulars and occasional visitors. On-site catering allows for an extended day of bargain hunting in this enchanting medieval setting.
