Summer car boot sale in one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, on the banks of the Lot in Aveyron
The Vide-Grenier de Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt is an annual summer event organized by the village associations in one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, nestled on the left bank of the Lot in Aveyron. Every summer, the pebble-paved alleys and squares of this medieval town are transformed into a large market of finds where bargain hunters and strollers mingle in a friendly atmosphere. Stalls are set up in the church square and in the streets of the historic center, between Renaissance houses and half-timbered residences from the 15th to the 18th centuries. Refreshments and light meals, as well as village restaurants, accompany visitors throughout the day, in an exceptional heritage setting dominated by the fortified Romanesque church and the seigneurial castle.
Every summer, the Vide-Grenier de Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt takes over the alleys and squares of this medieval village, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Organized by local associations, notably Canto'Rando and Les Amis des Rives d'Olt, this event transforms the historic center into a vast open-air flea market. Stalls are set up between the pebble houses of the Lot with flowery facades, Renaissance residences, and vaulted passageways, offering a truly unique bargain hunting setting in Aveyron.
Nestled on the left bank of the Lot, downstream from Saint-Geniez-d'Olt, the village of Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt captivates with its concentric medieval layout radiating around its 11th-century Romanesque church, fortified in the 12th century and enlarged in the 16th century. The edifice houses a remarkable treasure: a reliquary bust containing two thorns from Christ's crown, brought back from the Holy Land by Géraud de Curières. The 15th-century castle, the Renaissance townhouses, and the houses built with rolled Lot pebbles form a remarkably preserved architectural ensemble. The Serre stream flows through the village, once powering eight mills, the oldest of which, built in the 18th century, produced flour and walnut oil until 1954.
The Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt car boot sale offers the diversity characteristic of large rural events in Aveyron: antique tableware, books and magazines, clothing and accessories, toys and games, garden and DIY tools, knick-knacks and decorative objects, furniture, and vinyl records. Registration is mandatory for exhibitors, at a rate of 2 euros per linear meter, with a layout plan established based on reserved meters. Early bird bargain hunters scour the aisles from opening time to spot the best deals.
The inhabitants of Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt proudly bear the nickname Encaulats (cabbage eaters), a culinary tradition celebrated every winter since 2000 during gatherings centered around cabbage. The village also perpetuates the Procession of the Holy Thorn on the 2nd Sunday of July, and the Poule Un, an auction of foodstuffs for the souls, on November 1st. The Eulalie d'Art space, housed in a restored 17th-century barn, features six creative workshops—ceramics, jewelry, textiles—testifying to the village's artistic and artisanal dynamism.
Individuals wishing to exhibit at the Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt car boot sale can register by phone, email, post, or in person at the Eulalie d'Art tourist office, located at 1, Espace Louis Marcilhac, 12130 Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt. Registration is mandatory, and spaces are assigned according to a plan based on the reserved meters. The rate is 2 euros per linear meter. Entry is free for visitors. Refreshments and light meals are provided by volunteers from the organizing associations, while village restaurants—including Le Moulin d'Alexandre and the grocery store Le Braqueur des Sens—welcome visitors throughout the day.
The Vide-Grenier de Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt returns on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in the streets and squares of this village classified as Most Beautiful Villages of France, on the banks of the Lot. Free entry, refreshments and food on site. Exhibitor fee: €2 per linear meter, registration required.
