A jumble sale in a medieval town of the Monts du Lyonnais

The Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise Jumble Sale is a popular spring event in the Monts du Lyonnais. Each year in May, private sellers from the village and surrounding communes set up their stalls to offer clothes, toys, books, trinkets and various objects. The event takes place in a charming setting and welcomes both local residents and visitors from Lyon and the Rhône for a lovely day of outdoor bargain hunting.

Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise, a former Templar city in the Monts du Lyonnais

Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise is a market town of around 3,500 inhabitants in the Monts du Lyonnais, about thirty kilometers southwest of Lyon. A former Templar city and medieval stronghold, the town retains many traces of its rich past: ramparts, fortified gates, half-timbered houses and a Romanesque church make it a true heritage gem. Crossed by the Coise river, a tributary of the Gier, the village is also an ideal starting point for hikes in the wooded hills of the Monts du Lyonnais, in an authentic landscape of vines and meadows.
