Summer car boot sale on the ice rink square in Saint-Jean-Saint-Nicolas, in the heart of Champsaur
The car boot sale of Saint-Jean-Saint-Nicolas takes place on the place de la patinoire, in the heart of this village in Champsaur. With around 80 private exhibitors, the stalls offer everyday items, clothing, toys, trinkets, and sports equipment in a popular mountain setting.
Saint-Jean-Saint-Nicolas is a village in Champsaur located at 1,050 meters altitude, on the road between the Col Bayard and the upper Drac valley. The municipality groups several hamlets and forms a crossroads between the resorts of Orcières-Merlette, Ancelle, and Chaillol. The Écrins National Park extends to the east, offering a remarkable mountainous panorama.
Exhibitors offer a wide range of second-hand items: old crockery, trinkets, frames and mirrors, books and magazines, toys, clothing, small appliances, tools, sports equipment, vinyl records and CDs, household linen, and decorative objects. In Champsaur, you can regularly find typical mountain objects: old agricultural tools, cowbells, vintage skis, snowshoes, and hiking equipment.
Champsaur is nicknamed the "green valley" of the Hautes-Alpes, due to its green meadows and active mountain agriculture. The presence of several resort villages (Ancelle, Chaillol, Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes, Orcières-Merlette) and its proximity to the Écrins National Park make it a popular tourist area, ensuring a diverse audience for the summer car boot sales.
