Every May 1st, the association Terres d'en haut organizes the Potters street sale in La Fare-en-Champsaur. Twenty-five ceramists empty their workshops and offer their productions at reduced prices: end-of-series items, deformed pieces or pieces with slight imperfections, but also unique creations at street sale prices.

La Fare-en-Champsaur, village of Champsaur

La Fare-en-Champsaur is a small village located on the RN 85 (Route Napoléon) in the Champsaur valley, in the heart of the Hautes-Alpes. The hamlet of Les Barraques, where the event takes place, borders the historic road connecting Gap to Grenoble via the col Bayard. Champsaur, nicknamed the "green valley" of the Alps, is a renowned pastoral and tourist area.

Twenty-five ceramists gathered

The street sale brings together 25 ceramists who exhibit a wide variety of productions: bowls, cups, salad bowls, vases, decorative objects, and sculptures. The originality of the event lies in its workshop emptying concept: potters offer end-of-series pieces, second choices, and unique creations at very attractive prices. It is an opportunity to discover the work of local and regional ceramists.

An event rooted in the territory

The association Terres d'en haut brings together ceramists and potters from the Southern Alps. By organizing this annual street sale, it promotes living craftsmanship in a mountain territory where pottery and ceramics benefit from the richness of alpine clays. The Walpine brewery in Pont du Fossé participates in the event, illustrating the artisanal dynamism of Champsaur.
