Car boot sale for the Quézac festival on August 15th, in the field between the marquee and the school
Every August 15th, the village of Quézac comes alive for its summer festival, with the car boot sale being one of the highlights. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes de Quézac, the event brings together around 40 exhibitors in the field between the large marquee and the school, from 7 am to 5 pm. This friendly event attracts bargain hunters from the surrounding area and holidaymakers passing through this part of Cantal.
The unique aspect of the Quézac car boot sale is its accessibility. No reservation is necessary: exhibitors just need to show up at 7 am on the morning of August 15th and ask a volunteer from the festival committee for a spot. Pitches are priced at €5 for 3 linear meters, and it's possible to take two spots for €10. The committee advises, however, that some spots are shaded in the morning but not in the afternoon, and recommends bringing a parasol.
Quézac is a rural commune in Cantal (postal code 15600) located in a landscape of hills and valleys typical of Haute-Auvergne. The village retains an authentic character with its church, stone houses, and green surroundings. The August 15th festival, of which the car boot sale is a central element, is the major summer event in local life.
The festival committee offers a midday meal for €12 with a generous menu: a choice between tripoux (Auvergne specialty) or sausages with fries, followed by a chocolate éclair, all accompanied by wine and coffee. This on-site catering allows visitors and exhibitors to spend a full day without leaving the site, in a typically Cantalian spirit of conviviality.
