Oupia, on the border of Aude and Hérault

Oupia is a small village in the Aude department located in Minervois, on the border with Hérault. This border position gives it a particular identity, between Aude and Hérault influences. The village is surrounded by vineyards and Mediterranean scrubland, in a typical landscape of the Bas-Languedoc region, with its olive trees, holm oaks, and lavender.

Oupia belongs to the AOC area of Minervois, one of the historic vineyards of Languedoc. The Oupia vineyard is particularly renowned for the quality of its wines, produced on well-drained and sunny clay-limestone terroirs.

An authentic village car boot sale

The Oupia car boot sale is a human-sized event, typical of the community events in small villages in Languedoc. Stalls are set up in the narrow streets and on the village square, creating a village festival atmosphere much appreciated by locals and passing visitors.

Oupia is located in the western part of Minervois, a transition zone between the coastal plains and the reliefs of the Montagne Noire. The terroir is marked by mild winters, hot and dry summers, and exceptional sunshine that promotes grape maturity. Oupia wines, particularly the reds based on Carignan and Grenache, are renowned throughout the region.

The proximity of Béziers (about 25 km) and Narbonne (about 30 km) allows visitors to combine the car boot sale with an exploration of these cities with rich heritage: the Saint-Nazaire cathedral in Béziers, the Roman arenas, or the Narbonne Museum and its Gallo-Roman quarter.

A day between vineyards and scrubland

The summer period, conducive to this type of event, offers visitors the opportunity to discover Minervois at its best. The aromas of thyme, rosemary, and lavender that scent the surrounding scrubland create a unique sensory atmosphere.
