Vintage car boot sale — Place de Loire and Quai de Loire, Orléans, May
In May, the Orléans Vintage Festival transforms the Place de Loire and Quai de Loire into a large, free, and festive vintage market. For two days, about fifty vintage car boot sale stalls are alongside concerts, open-air screenings, workshops, and retro entertainment. The 7th edition in 2025 plunged 15,000 festival-goers back into the years 85-2005. A unique event of its kind in the region, combining a second-hand market and vintage popular culture.
Every May, the Orléans Vintage Festival transforms the most beautiful areas of the Loire riverbank in Orléans into a large, festive, and free vintage event. Place de Loire, Quai de Loire, and Jardin de la Charpenterie host concerts, open-air screenings, creative workshops, retro entertainment, and of course, a large vintage car boot sale whose special atmosphere attracts enthusiasts and curious people from all over the region.
At the heart of the festival, the vintage car boot sale plays a central role. About fifty stalls offer a carefully selected range of vintage items: clothing and accessories from the 70s to the 2000s, vinyl records and cassettes, retro video games and consoles, decorative objects and furniture from all eras, posters, and merchandise from popular culture. The vintage theme gives this second-hand market a unique identity that distinguishes it from traditional car boot sales.
Each edition of the Orléans Vintage Festival is dedicated to a particular era or decade. The 7th edition, in May 2025, celebrated the years 1985-2005, taking festival-goers back to the era of the internet's arrival, cult series like X-Files and Friends, grunge music, and the first mobile phones. Live concerts, open-air cinema, roller skating, 90s dance workshops, and themed exhibitions complete the car boot sale offerings to create a total immersive experience.
With over 15,000 festival-goers welcomed at each recent edition, the Orléans Vintage Festival has established itself as one of the major free cultural events in the Orléans metropolitan area. Its formula, mixing vintage market, concerts, open-air cinema, and entertainment, appeals to a diverse audience, from nostalgic fans of past decades to younger generations who curiously discover the popular culture of their elders.
The Orléans Vintage Festival is held annually in mid-May (in 2025: Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th), on Place de Loire, Quai de Loire, and Jardin de la Charpenterie in Orléans. The entire festival, including the car boot sale, is completely free. Accessible by tram (TAO network, Place de Loire or Hôtel de Ville stop).
The Orléans Vintage Festival returns in May 2026 to Place de Loire and Quai de Loire in Orléans for a new free and festive vintage edition. Vintage car boot sale, concerts, open-air cinema, over 15,000 festival-goers expected. Free entry.
