Annual grand car boot sale on the Grande Rue of Morteau, capital of the Pays Horloger
Every summer or early autumn, the Grande Rue of Morteau transforms for a day into a vast open-air second-hand market. This popular car boot sale brings together residents of the town and surrounding villages, bargain hunters from all over the region, and curious passers-by in this emblematic town of the Pays Horloger.
The Grande Rue is the commercial and historic artery of Morteau. Setting up on this street means being at the heart of local life, surrounded by local shops and buildings characteristic of Franche-Comté architecture. The car boot sale thus offers a dual experience: that of bargain hunting and that of discovering or rediscovering the center of Morteau.
Morteau is the main town of the Pays Horloger, a territory in the Doubs region bordering Switzerland, in the Doubs valley. Renowned for its Label Rouge Morteau sausage and its watchmaking tradition, the town attracts visitors and tourists all year round. It organizes a monthly fair on the Foire esplanade, demonstrating an old and vibrant trading tradition.
The car boot sale is held on the Grande Rue of Morteau, accessible on foot from the town center. Entry is free for visitors. For information on booking a stall, please contact the Morteau town hall or local associations.
