Annual car boot sale in the shade of chestnut trees in Fontaines-sur-Saône, a Monts d'Or village
Every year in mid-September, the streets of Fontaines-sur-Saône come alive for the traditional Vide-Greniers des Marronniers. The evocative name refers to the beautiful chestnut trees that shade the village streets, providing exhibitors and visitors with a particularly pleasant natural setting as the leaves begin to take on their first autumn hues.
Fontaines-sur-Saône is a picturesque village on the right bank of the Saône, about ten kilometres north of Lyon, in the Monts d'Or area. These wooded hills forming the natural boundary between the Saône valley and the Ain department are one of the most characteristic landscapes of the Lyon metropolitan area.
Fontaines-sur-Saône is accessible by bus C6 from Lyon (Caluire). By car via the D51 road from Caluire-et-Cuire. Parking in the village. The commune is about 10 km north of central Lyon.
