The football club's bargain day at Loubéjac stadium
Football club Loubéjac Ardus FC organises its traditional flea market at Loubéjac stadium, in Lamothe-Capdeville, on the edge of the Tarn valley. A Sunday dedicated to bargain hunting, in a club atmosphere typical of South-West France, with private vendors, on-site catering run by players and volunteers, and the warm friendliness of rural football.
Just north of Montauban, in the Tarn valley, Lamothe-Capdeville is a commune attached to its sporting and community traditions. The Loubéjac Ardus FC club, formed by the merger of the Loubéjac and Ardus hamlet clubs, keeps local football and village conviviality alive. To fund its teams, equipment and travel, the club organises its big spring flea market every year at the Loubéjac stadium.
The event benefits from a spacious setting: the stadium and its surroundings offer plenty of space to host several dozen private vendors, who set up at dawn to offer their stalls to bargain hunters from Lamothe-Capdeville, L'Honor-de-Cos, Montauban and Molières. Loubéjac stadium, located on the road linking the club's two hamlets, is easily accessible and has an adjacent car park.
Family bric-à-brac, adult and children's clothing, toys, crockery, books, vinyl records, comics, small furniture, decorative items, tools: the diversity is representative of a large rural spring flea market in Tarn-et-Garonne. The presence of a family audience and many private vendors guarantees gentle prices and fine finds to discover from the opening.
As with all sports club flea markets in South-West France, the keyword is conviviality. Players, parents and volunteers run the refreshment stand and food: sandwiches, grilled meats, home-made fries, cold drinks, all served under marquee or at the stadium snack bar. The flea market thus becomes a great village celebration where people bargain hunt, have lunch on site, meet friends and support the club.
The flea market opens early and attendance is steady all morning. For serious bargain hunters, arrival from 8 AM remains ideal. Free parking around the stadium, and the walk can continue along the banks of the Tarn or towards Ardus beach, a popular summer swimming spot. A must for fans of popular bargain hunting in Tarn-et-Garonne.
