Car boot sale of the Pumpkin Festival in the village center of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac
Every year in October, the center of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac hosts a festive car boot sale for the Pumpkin Festival. This original autumn event combines a flea market and seasonal gastronomy in a village famous for its prehistoric cave with a hundred mammoths, one of the jewels of Périgord Noir.
The car boot sale takes place from 8 am to 5 pm in the streets of the village center. Individuals offer their second-hand items: crockery, trinkets, clothing, toys, books, tools, and various bric-a-brac. In parallel, the Pumpkin Festival's entertainment attracts families with the sale of homemade pumpkin soup, chipolatas, merguez, fries, and grilled chestnuts, in a warm atmosphere of an autumn village festival.
The event also includes a solidarity initiative by organizing a raffle for the benefit of Octobre Rose, the month dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer screening. This initiative adds a charitable dimension to this day of treasure hunting and festivities, uniting residents and visitors around a common cause.
Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac is world-renowned for its cave adorned with prehistoric paintings and engravings, particularly its hundred mammoths. The village, located in the heart of Périgord Noir between Périgueux and Les Eyzies, offers an authentic rural setting conducive to popular festivities. The Pumpkin Festival is part of this tradition of village conviviality that characterizes the communes of Périgord.
