Annual car boot sale organized by the Saint-Luperce Festival Committee, every April
Every spring, the Saint-Luperce Festival Committee organizes its annual car boot sale in this village in Eure-et-Loir, located about fifteen kilometers southwest of Chartres. The event takes place at the village's village hall and its surroundings, welcoming private sellers and families from the commune and the surrounding areas for a friendly day of bargain hunting.
Saint-Luperce (28190) is a rural commune in the canton of Maintenon, in the Eure-et-Loir department. This small Beauceron town, surrounded by fields of cereals and rapeseed, lives to the rhythm of the agricultural seasons and community events. The Festival Committee plays an essential role in animating local life, organizing the spring car boot sale as well as other events throughout the year, such as a clothing and toy swap.
The Saint-Luperce car boot sale brings together private sellers who offer the contents of their attics and cellars: adult and children's clothing, crockery and tableware, books and comics, toys, knick-knacks, furniture, and second-hand everyday objects. The diversity of stalls makes it an event appreciated by local bargain hunters and second-hand enthusiasts.
In the rural villages of Beauce, festival committees are the beating heart of community life. That of Saint-Luperce also organizes, every autumn, a clothing and toy swap which complements the community offerings of the commune. These two events are aimed at families and contribute to maintaining social cohesion in this rural area, far from large urban centers.
