Summer car boot sale in the heart of the village of Trépot, 4th edition, ~50 outdoor exhibitors
Every August, the village of Trépot on the Comtois plateau hosts its annual car boot sale in the large park of the Château, rue du Château. At 550 meters above sea level in rural Doubs, this open-air car boot sale brings together about fifty private exhibitors in an exceptional natural setting, from 6 am to 6 pm. A human-sized local event, ideal for bargain hunting in the open air while discovering a preserved Comtois village.
Trépot is a small rural village in the Doubs perched at an altitude of 551 meters on the plateau between Besançon and Pontarlier. With its few hundred inhabitants, this typically Comtois village with stone houses enjoys a preserved natural environment, between fir forests and hedged meadows. It is in this exceptional bucolic setting that the tradition of the annual August car boot sale developed a few years ago.
The 4th edition of the Trépot car boot sale confirms the event's place in the summer calendar of the Comtois plateau. Organized in the large park of the Château, rue du Château, this car boot sale benefits from a green and airy setting that is particularly pleasant in the height of summer. The exhibitors—about fifty private individuals—have ample space to set up their stalls, and visitors can stroll comfortably between the aisles, enjoying the fresh mountain air.
With its 50 exhibitors, the Trépot car boot sale maintains a human scale that is its charm. Here, there are no dense crowds or anonymity of large flea markets: everyone can take their time, chat with exhibitors, discover the history of the objects, and negotiate in a relaxed manner. The finds are typical of Comtois rural attics: farm furniture, antique crockery, agricultural and craft tools, vintage clothing, books and magazines, trinkets, and everyday objects from a bygone era.
Light refreshments provided on-site by local volunteers nicely complete the day. From 6 am to 6 pm, exhibitors and visitors can thus enjoy a long day of outdoor bargain hunting, punctuated by welcome gourmet breaks. Direct contact with the exhibitors, often residents of Trépot and neighboring villages, gives this event a precious social and authentic aspect.
A visit to the Trépot car boot sale is also an opportunity to discover this charming village on the Comtois plateau. Its cut stone houses, its church, its wooded paths, and its clear views of the Doubs hills make it a pleasant outing destination for families from Besançon and passing holidaymakers. In August, at an altitude of 550 meters, the heat is tempered by a cool breeze that makes the day of outdoor bargain hunting particularly enjoyable.
In August 2026, Trépot will host the 5th edition of its car boot sale in the Château park. About fifty private exhibitors will offer their finds from 6 am to 6 pm in this bucolic setting at 551 meters above sea level on the Comtois plateau. An unmissable summer event for lovers of authentic rural bargain hunting.
