Annual Grand Car Boot Sale on the Champ de Mars and in the streets of Rimont
There is no edition scheduled in 2026 for this event. This page remains accessible to archive the history of the manifestation and will be updated if a new edition is announced.
Every last Sunday of June, the village of Rimont hosts its grand annual car boot sale on the Champ de Mars and in the streets of the town center. This major event, which mobilizes the entire Rimont community, opens its doors to exhibitors from 6:30 am and to visitors from 9 am to 5 pm. The event is distinguished by its village and heritage setting — the paved streets of Rimont offer a medieval fortified town backdrop for this annual day of bargain hunting —, by its rigorous organization, and by the variety of items offered.
Rimont (09420) is a village in the Ariège region located between Foix and Saint-Girons, stretching from the borders of the Plantaurel massif to the Pyrenean foothills. Of Gallo-Roman origin, it was established as a fortified town in the second half of the 13th century by the brothers of the abbey of Combelongue. The Couserans-Pyrénées community of communes, of which it is a part, brings together the villages of this sector around common development and heritage enhancement projects.
Rimont suffered particularly painfully from the Second World War. The German attack in August 1944 earned the village the sad title of martyred village. This tragic past is present in the collective memory of Rimont and forms one of the guiding threads of the village's identity, which has managed to bounce back and maintain an active cultural and associative life.
The Rimont car boot sale takes place in two complementary areas: the Champ de Mars, a vast esplanade on the edge of the village, and the streets of the town center, which allows for a large number of exhibitors in a varied setting. Pitches are priced at 2 euros per linear meter. Exhibitors set up from 6:30 am to be ready for the official opening at 9:00 am. The event welcomes both individuals and flea market professionals.
Food and drinks are offered on-site by the organizers, ensuring a full day for exhibitors and visitors. The items offered are from the attics and cellars of the Plantaurel and Couserans regions of Ariège: country furniture, antique tableware, tools and utensils, books, clothing, toys, trinkets, and collectibles.
Rimont is adjacent to the Plantaurel massif, an anticlinal chain that runs parallel to the Pyrenees between Foix and Saint-Girons. This massif of limestone hills and forests offers landscapes of hedgerows and garrigue, dotted with cliffs and caves. The Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park, of which Rimont is a member, preserves these natural spaces and encourages the development of environmentally friendly tourism. Hiking trails in the area offer beautiful walks in this varied landscape.
To book a pitch, contact the organizers at 06 87 78 28 46. Payment is made at the time of booking. Rimont is accessible from Foix via the D117 or from Saint-Girons via the same national road. Parking is available near the Champ de Mars.
ℹ️ 2026 edition not confirmed. At the time of our editorial verification (May 2026), we found no public source (organizer, town hall, aggregator, local press) explicitly announcing a 2026 edition of the Vide-Grenier de Rimont. The Comité des fêtes de Rimont is nevertheless an active association (HelloAsso page online) which organized the 2025 edition on June 22, 2025. If you are the organizer and this flea market is indeed taking place in 2026, please do not hesitate to inform us via the event modification form.
